Abolish ICE Campaigns in Minneapolis

The murders of legal observers Renée Nicole Macklin Good and Alex Jeffrey Pretti were catalysts for building movements and garnered international media attention. 

Tending the Soil, an alignment of five BIPOC & workng class power building non-profits and labor organizations representing more than 10,000 Minnesotans quickly launched a campaign to respond to this moment in under 24 hours. The Fund the Frontlines has raised over $1.75 millon dollars from over 26,000 donors in under two months.

The campaign relied on organic media, community websites, as well as celebrity, political leader, and content creator traffic to drive campaign donations


Save Our Local News Campaign

In the Spring of 2025, a group of journalists in British Columbia, Canada were laid off after their corporate employer announced the sudden closure of their local newspapers. With the support of the UCI Build Cooperatives Program, the journalists launched the Save Our Local News Campaign through their local union.

The campaign has raised over $100,000 in donations providing the initial investment required to access development services, training, and launch a new worker-run local news non-profit cooperative. Through an integrated media strategy, event tabling, and Hello Neighbour initiative, the campaign has mobilized thousands of new supporters and donors across the region and country.


Burnaby Welcomes Ukraine 

In February 2022, the Russian invasion of Ukraine resulted in the largest displacement and humanitarian crisis in Europe since the second world war. A group of Ukrainian’s and refugee community organizers quickly organized the Burnaby Welcomes Ukraine initiative. 

An online Facebook group and WhatsApp support line were quickly launched to connect displaced Ukrainians with hosts in Canada. Online organizing and earned media drove traffic. Individual Ukrainian families were connected to local hosts supported through travel rewards and private donations to cover airfare, travel, and provide home stays.

Local Member of Parliament Peter Julian joined the campaign and organized a benefit concert outside of the Edmonds Community Centre. The campaign was sponsored by the New Westminster and Burnaby Firefighters Unions raising over $70,000.
